hello

apologies for lack of german. Feel free to respond in german - I understand it a little - just can't write it.

Anyway - a friend of mine has a restored 1976 50 special for which the papers have been lost. To register it in holland we need some sort of copy of the original paperwork. Is there anyway to get a copy of the papers? How would I go about doing that? Would it require a full TUV or other complicated way?

Many thanks

John

PS - come to the dutch custom show 9 to 11 November in Amsterdam - great party!

no sorry - I dont think I was clear. I know the relevant info - its more that the bike used to be a German one and was registered in Germany - to register this scooter in holland we need some sort of proof - ideally copies of the german registration or insurance documents. The problem is that we have lost these and have no idea on how to get new ones!

Many thanks

John

You could get an official copy of the Betriebserlaubnis by requesting one at a official Vespa Dealer. It takes some time as they have to correspond with Piaggio Germany. Maybe an official Vespa Dealer in the Netherlands can do the same for you...

Are you living near the boarder? Or got relatives in Germany?

If you are sure that it is a german Vespa, you can go to any Piaggio store and say you need a new operating licence (papers). You just have to say that you've lost your old one.

This would be the easiest way I think.

hi john,

just bought a fifty minus documents for my wife, so we will have to go through the procedure anyway. if you want to send me the frame number of your mate's scooter and we will sort you out with a new betriebserlaubniss. i seem to remember that overall cost is something around 79. plus the beer you or he will have to pay next time we meet (me being a lightweight that wont set you back to much, i guess).

In that case you need a KBA(Federal office for motor vehicles) query to verify it's not stolen. And a Betriebserlaubniss from a Piaggio retailer or TÜV. The costs are nearly the same but if you're on the edge and the bromfiets is roadworthy TÜV is the quicker solution.
