Does anybody have experience with attaching the beautifull vespa script name badges to old vespa's? I already have the badge and the little 1 mm nails. I have still to drill holes in my frame but i was wondering; How do you fixate the nails?

1 Do you have the smash the at the backside of the legshiels so they expand? I think this is very dangerous with a new paintjob...

2 Do you have to drill holes (my frame doesnt have any) that are slightly smaller than the diamter of the nail (which is 1mm) and tap the nails in from the front so that the fixate like a "cork in a bottle"principle

Thanks!

So the second option; tapping them in from the front with slightly smaller holes wont work you think?

And about the glue; isn't that messy? and how do you get rid of the little holes in the badge?

Thanks!

You could attach some "hard" tape to the legshield and just drill through the tape. This significantly enhances Your chances of getting away without major paint damage, since the tape somewhat "supports" the tension of the paint. (I don't know how to circumscribe this correctly. Just hope You understand :-D ) Apart from that You can attach the label by using glue anyway and finally fill out the holes with nail heads glued to the label. Not the original's lover's approach - agreed.

Another choice - just in case it's a GS150 - would be to contact Peter Witzel. He did some nice repros (exactly those to attach with glue). Given that's true You should try to contact him via eMail:

EDIT: They named him "slow hand", too. :-(

Aha,

no unfortuantely my vespa is a 150 GL..the tip about the tape is very good, thanks, but I'm drilling the holes before the paintjob is done so that is no problem fortunatley..Does anyone have any practical tips when im to use the first option; that is smashing the nails from the back and has Anyone ever done it without scratching the paintjob?

Thanks!!

Another option instead of nails: tiny screws.

I bought them in a model train store, they have a selection of materials, headshapes, diameters, lengths. Looks fine, can be cut to length beforehand, no 'smashing' necessary. The nuts can be secured with Loctite.
