Hi,

My 1988 PX200GS keeps on blowing the fuse from the electric starting relay.

Even a 10A it blows.

And with the ignition off, the new fuse blows intantly when inserted in the fuse holder...

Any suggestions on what can be wrong?

The fuse is securing everything except from the starter and the starting relay. Maybe start with following the two red lines, one is connected to the alternator, the second ist connected to the ignition key.

Probably there is a short circuit somewhere.

Edit: as it blows with the ignition off, the problem should be located somewhere on those two wires. No other wires are having voltage when the ignition is off

-it was the rectifyer that was the problem.

New rectifyer and the starter works nice and the fuse doesn't blow! [emoji1303]

Good. Hopefully it was only the rectifier.

I once had a px where the former owner said the starter doesn't work.

Only the fuse was blown but this caused the rectifier to die and the also the battery. The rectifier does not like to be used without a battery as a load.

Thanks Fred,

Hopefully it is going to work as it should now for a while...

-it is my daily commuter...

Not I just have to sort out the rev counter, as there is a dodgy contact somewhere making the needle dancing around...
